High Legh Village

High Legh is a village in the County of Cheshire. With around 720 domestic properties and a population of 1720 (2021), it is 6 miles north west of Knutsford, 7 miles east of Warrington and 12 miles south west of Manchester city centre. The attractive village of Lymm is less than 4 miles away.

The area is largely agricultural with a number of well established farms and associated buildings, most of the other residential property having been built between the 1940s and the 1990s.

The village is well kept and its close proximity to the north west motorway network and Manchester airport add to its appeal, making it a desirable residential area.

There is a strong community spirit centred around the Village Hall, originally the primary school, which is one of the best facilities of this type in Cheshire.

The current primary school was built in 1976 and offers a modern facility for local children. The nearest high school is in Lymm, a 10 minute drive from High Legh.

 

There is also a crown bowling green and tennis club and a cricket club (which plays at Arley), a children’s playground off Pheasant Walk and a recreation/ football field on the edge of the Belfry, alongside the A50.

High Legh Village Hall

The High Legh Village Hall offers modern facilities including a main hall accommodating up to 90 people, additional seating space, and a well-equipped kitchen. Features include a PA system, flat screen TV, mirrored wall, and electric blinds. Free Wi-Fi is available, along with meeting rooms, toilets, and ample parking for 42 cars, including disabled bays.

The High Legh Community Association, a non-political, non-religious registered charity, fosters community cohesion by providing inclusive membership to all residents over 18, with those under 18 designated as junior members. Managed by an elected Council and local representatives, it oversees various community initiatives, including the operation of the Village Hall, organising events, administering grants, and maintaining financial transparency through regular meetings and an annual AGM.

High Legh Sunday Teas

High Legh’s Sunday Teas tradition began almost 50 years ago when Joyce Brow set up a stall at the Village Hall, selling tea and homemade cake. Today, the event continues throughout summer, organised by various organisations weekly, with profits benefiting charities. Local groups interested in hosting a 2025 Sunday Teas event are encouraged to contact Trish Adams. Enjoy sandwiches, quiche, cakes, trifles, and a variety of beverages at this cherished community gathering.

High Legh 10K Run

An annual event jointly hosted by High Legh Community Association and Lymm Runners. This year’s event will take place on Sunday 17th March with over 600 runners participating.
